6 reasons I will go against the politically correct laws

Published 12/3/2008 2:09:00 PM - Come and See Blogs

1.  You do not have to be politically correct as long as others you respect.

2.  It is alright to have differences in opinion as long as you listen to others you have differences with.

3.  The higher law of right and wrong is better than a law that has no foundations other than some peoples' political fancy.

4.  I would rather follow the law of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you.

5.  I would rather love my neighbor as myself than being too careful what I might say to him or her.

6.  True political correctness (PC) is practicing Christ.(The real PC)

During this Christmas Season I plan on seeking the ways of the Prince of Peace to help bring his joy to the world.

 My favorite Christmas Story

Published 12/1/2008 12:34:00 PM - Come and See Blogs

A large Catholic Church in a big city put up a Manger Scene every year in front of its church for the month of December.  The congregation decided to purchase a new baby Jesus one Christmas season. Every Sunday before Christmas  people going by would notice the Manger Scene and particularly the baby Jesus.  On Christmas Eve the Priest went outside to say a prayer before the evenings services.  He noticed instantly that the baby Jesus was missing so he called the police.  The officers arrived shortly thereafter and began cruising the neighborhood hoping to find the infant Jesus.  After a few blocks ride they noticed a little boy pulling a glimmering new red wagon and to their surpise they saw the baby Jesus placed carefully in that wagon.  They stopped their car and asked the boy where he was going with his red wagon and what did he have inside.  The boy excidedly exclaimed that he had gone down to the front of the church every day and prayed to baby Jesus for a new wagon and promised him if he got it for Christmas Jesus would be the first one he would give a ride too.  Merry Christmas.

I do not know where I first heard or saw this story but i am pretty sure it is true several years ago.  Gary Exman

Now that Thanksgiving is over, Merry Christmas

Published 11/30/2008 12:35:00 AM - Come and See Blogs

Merry Christmas to you and yours as we begin this morning with the first Sunday in Advent.  Hopefully we will not just be worshipping in our churches this next 26 days about the real meaning of Christmas but powerfully let us publically confront the PC police of our society.  We Christians have every right to celebrate privately in our homes and  churches, and publically in our towns and cities that the Christ Child has come.  The real meaning of Christmas is central to our faith and we must proclaim about what Christ has done and will do for us.  So, by all means, display our faith live our faith we must.  Even if it means ridicule by others and misunderstandings from some, may we boldly let his light shine from our witness and remember to always give Glory to God.  In doing these acts of praise and demonstrations of faith let us also be kind and respectful to those who do not believe the way we do.  These days ahead are more than wishing one another 'happy holidays.' but proclaiming, 'joy to the world, the Lord has come, let all the earth rejoice.  Gary Exman

 Failure can be a blessing

Published 11/22/2008 11:55:00 PM - Come and See Blogs

I was thinking about our country and it's most recent economic failure and I wondered if it could become a blessing to our whole country?  Surely it is going to be tough on all of us but maybe, just maybe, it might get our collective and individual minds off our pursuit of the almighty dollar.  The Bible says the 'the love of money is the root of all evil.'  Maybe this crisis could help us to now focus on other priorities than just money.  How about family and faith?  How about helping the needy and meeting and caring for our neighbors?  If we all could see the good side of life and look for the possibilities of making ourselves, our family and our community better instead of just driving ourselves towards a bigger pay check, a larger home and a faster car.  We still will have this crisis that is indeed a huge problem for us all but maybe focusing on our blessings will turn us around.  Maybe when we turn around we will see things in a hopeful light.  Those of us with faith have that hope for the better.  Let us all who have faith share it in this time of national need with our neighbors and show our caring by reaching out to help someone.  Will you join me?  Gary Exman

We all need the Christmas story now

Published 11/22/2008 10:48:00 AM - Come and See Blogs

The Angel said, "Fear not for I bring you good tiddings of great joy, for unto you is born this day in the city of David, a saviour, Christ the Lord."  It is Thanksgiving but in order to be thankful let us all look ahead to our most foundational faith in what Christ began when he came to bring that message that will help us fear not, but instead have great joy.  Christ needs to be our focus in order for us to fear not.  Let me suggest these 3 fundamental truths that are true any time but maybe even more important to hold onto this month before we remember Christmas.

1.  In Christ there is nothing to fear but fear itself.

2.  Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

3.  God is still in his Holy Temple, let all the earth rejoice.

Hold on to these three truths and remember what the Christmas Story is all about and then we can still say, "Happy Thanksgiving."  Count your blessing, name them one by one.  Gary Exman

 A time to be thankful

Published 11/20/2008 1:05:00 PM - Come and See Blogs

Many years ago times were tough as a few early arrivals to this land we now call home met with some folks who were already living megerly off the soil. They gathered together, these two groups from vastly diverse backgrounds, and had a small meal and gave thanks to the almighty for the this newly shared land.  They did not have running water nor electricity.  They did not have fast food or fast cars yet they gathered to give thanks.  Now many years later we have revived this ritual and we gather again to give thanks.  We now have running water if our bill is up to date and we do have electricity if our power has not been turned off.  We also have fast food if we still have ten bucks in our pocket and have fast cars if our credit card still works at the pump. Times are once again rough yet the old custom is as relevant as ever.  Let us gather together in our worship services and then go to the soup kitchen to feed the hungry. After doing those two let us go home and pray together around our own meager meals giving thanks and breaking bread.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Gary Exman

Five ways to pray when times are tough

Published 11/18/2008 1:55:00 PM - Come and See Blogs

America is in the greatest crisis financially since the great depression most experts say.  So what are we, as christians, supposed to do when times are so tough?  Let me suggest five ways to pray during this time of great difficulty.

1.  Pray often and pray much for yourself first and then for your family.

2.  Pray for our President and President elect, for our Congress, for our state and local leaders and for the leaders of other countries.

3.  Pray that God will forgive us of greed and corruption and that he will cleanse us from these sins.

4.  Since it is almost Thanksgiving let us make Thanksgiving Week a week of prayer for one another and remember the scripture says that in everything give thanks.

5.  Pray for 5 families that come to your mind that are worse off than you and then go to their homes and assist them with food and cash.

If we would pray and act upon these five prayers our world would be a better place, our country would find the right answers and our families would be able to make it.  Happy Thanksgiving.  Gary Exman

The economic crisis and the church

Published 11/15/2008 2:19:00 AM - Come and See Blogs

During these times of economic uncertainty in our country and world we as a church must make a clear call of hope to our members and friends of the church. I believe there are 5 truth's we can share at this time of need.

1.  Remind our people that God is still in His Holy Temple, let all the earth rejoice.

2.  Remind them that the scriptures tell us that whatever state we are in to be content.

3.  Remind them that God promises to never leave us nor forsake us.

4.  Remind them that Roman's 8:28 says that God will work everything out together for good for them who know Him and are called into His purpose.

5.  Remind them that prayer changes things.

In this time of crisis let us all turn to the one who is our only hope.  Gary Exman

A New Add on TV--Why believe in God?

Published 11/12/2008 12:49:00 PM - Come and See Blogs

The anti Christmas bash has already begun with this new TV add just out.  The title is 'Why believe in God?' The add goes on to say, 'just be good for goodness sakes.'  Being good at Christmas is maybe a good thing but there goes our adversaries again leaving God out of Christmas.  So let us be even stronger this year by saying cheerfully 'Merry Christmas,' to all the people we meet.  Let us do not to be good for goodness sake but because we are only good because of God's sake.  Joy to the world, the Lord has come.  Merry Christmas, maybe a little early but let us not make it too late.  Gary Exman
